Family Outing and Corporate Team Activities at Chikmagalur

Activities at The Hidden Valley include a guided plantation tour, bonfire & barbecue, lazing and fishing on a pedal boat on the private mini-lake, Swimming in our private mini lake, bird watching, badminton, indoor board games and trekking at Devi Gudda. There are also a number of rabbits, turkeys, ducks and country chickens at The Hidden Valley.

You can drive to the nearby villages and plan visits to tourist destinations close by like Belur, Halebeedu, Dharmasthala and Sringeri Mutt. A visit to the Shandy (weekly local market) - Chikmagalur on Wednesday, Mudigere on Friday, Aldur on Saturday and Handi on Sunday, will be a worthwhile experience.

The activities at The Hidden Valley will make your holiday fun-filled and relaxed at the same time. 30 acres of coffee estate surround you, making your experience with nature a unique and enjoyable one. Pack in a pair of sturdy walking shoes, and maybe a warm coat during the monsoon season. Also, if ornithology is a passion with you, grab a copy of your bird watching guide as there are plenty of birds to spy.

What you can do at The Hidden Valley:

Boat Ride

Boat ride. You can enjoy a ride on the pedal boat, which can seat four people at a time, on the mini lake. If you choose, you may also wade around in the water if you know swimming.


The mini lake has a variety of fishes such as Catla, Rahu, Golden Carp, Grass Carp. There is also the local variety Snakehead (Mural/Kuchu). Ideal for all fishing lovers if you carry your own fishing rod and bait.

Rabbit Petting Pen

There are plenty of rabbits at The Hidden Valley. Time flies when you’re with these furry little creatures.

Tree Tower

Climb up to the Tree Tower to enjoy a bird’s eye view of the natural surroundings. Your kids will love it and you too!

Mini Library

Feel like reading?. Pick up a magazine or a novel. Do keep it back before you leave ☺

Indoor Games

Carom, Scrabble, Chess, Uno. There are also small bicycles and toys for children.

Bird Watching

The Hidden Valley can be a mini paradise for a keen Birdwatcher,
It is a home for different Bird species to name a few, Kingfisher, Parakeet blue and green, Pigeon, Woodpecker, Peacock and much more.
You could be spending hours together just watching!
For an avid viewer, a binocular is suggested.

A beautiful way to interact with nature at her best and learn more about coffee plantation.

Outdoor Badminton

You may enjoy a game of badminton if the weather is conducive. There are rackets and shuttles provided for you.

Trekking at Devi Gudda

Devi Gudda is the tallest peak standing majestically in a cluster of hills, 8km from The Hidden Valley. The curvy drive to the foot hill of Devi Gudda is charming as you pass the plantations in all their greenery. You may park your vehicle at the foot of the hill and start climbing. Again, vast coffee plantations surround you on both sides. A 2km walk and you are at the peak of Devi Gudda, which has an unobstructed 360° view of the range of hills. It is an enchanting experience to stand among the clouds.

If you are lucky you may spot a few wild animals. Peacocks and bison are a common sight.


Sitting around roaring fire evening is the best way to spend an evening during your holiday.


The most fun way to have dinner at The Hidden Valley. You can make or choose your own barbecue.

Activities not covered in the Tariff

River Rafting & Water Sports

The season for whitewater rafting in river Bhadra, between Magundi and Balehole is from June to October every year. We can organize the rafting and guide you to the spot.
Kayaking is available from October to June.

Watersports of various kinds are available at Yagachi Dam, near Belur.

Muthodi Wildlife Sanctuary

Also known as Bhadra Wild Life Sanctuary, is situated about 35 km from The Hidden Valley homestay.
The Sanctuary is home for Tigers, Leopards, Elephants, Gaur, Wild Boar and various Deer species.
More than 250 species of bird life, many of which are endemic in the Western Ghats are spotted here. Peacock, Parrot, Partridge, Pigeon, great black woodpecker and many more are a common sight here.
Reptiles found here are common vine snake, King cobra, common cobra, Russel’s wiper, bamboo pit etc,.
The Sanctuary is also home to exotic butterflies which include Bluepansey, Butterfly, Yam fly, Baronet, crimson rose and many more,.
Forest Dept has Jeep safari @ Muthodi. It could be a unique experience!

Suggested Travel Plans

(Temple visits and sightseeing by making The Hidden Valley as a base camp)

Belur and Halebeedu: Leave after breakfast and visit the world famous heritage temples. You can then return to The Hidden Valley for lunch.

Chikmagalur Town: Leave after breakfast and visit places like Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary, Ranganabetta and Mullayanaperi (highest peak in Karnataka) or play a round of golf at the Chikmagalur Golf Club. Click here for more details.

Dharmastala & Subramanya: Leave Early morning and reach Subramanya temple via Sakleshpur. Thereafter proceed to Dharmastala where you can have darshan, lunch and return to The Hidden Valley via Ujre, the enchanting Charmadi Ghats, Mudigere, before dinner.

Kalasa, Hornadu and Sringeri: Leave early morning to Kalasa / Hornadu and thereafter leave for Sringeri where you can have darshan and lunch. Return to The Hidden Valley via Balehonnur by dinner time.

Mudigere Town: Find a few hours to wander around the small town of Mudigere. Buy the choicest cardamom, pepper and coffee and enjoy the local cuisine. If you are an an affilated member of The Mudigere club, you may enjoy their hospitality. This club is 25 years old.

Devaramane: Leave in the morning or evening, drive about 25 Km to the picturesque hills which is a feast for the eyes. The other side of the hills, sloppy and lush green, give a clear view of the vast expanse of the coastal district of South Kanara

Fun drive through Western Ghats! If you love driving and want to experience Western ghats in its true form take this route.
Mudigere – Kottigehar – Kalasa – Kudremukh- Kerekatte – Sringeri – Balehonnur – Aldur and back to the Hidden valley. Unforgettable experience!
